The standard reference in North America is Scott's Standard Postage Stamp Catalogue. It covers the whole world, in six volumes. In the 2010 edition you can count on stamps from 2008 being listed. Te catalogue wil help you identify the stamps and list a catalogue value for both mint and used issues. That said, you should know that the condition of the stamps are the most important factor in pricing. The catalogue values assigned are for stamps in near-pristine condition, well-centered , no tears, a reasonably clear cancellation that dos not detract from the appearance of the stamp, and several other factors. A copy of the catalogue may be available from your local library. Other resources - look for a local stamp club, google Linn's (a stamp newspaper on line for free) and a stamp dealer. I really have enjoyed this hobby, and would encourage you to find out more about it form these other sources.. |
