Is there a possibility polymers clay will explode?

Question: Is there a possibility polymers clay will explode?

(Posted by: Allie on 2010-01-21 13:49:36)

Until recently, I've only dealt with terracotta and clay at school; I was wondering if Polymers Clay had the same general ideas. If clay has air pockets, when it gets fired in the kiln, it'd explode. Would the same thing happen to Polymers clay in the oven? >_ < Do you have tips for Polymers clay, if any? :D

You never put polymer clay in a kiln. It would probably melt or ignite. You bake it in a regular oven at 275F. 15min/ 30min per 1/ 4 " thickness. If you have an air bubble it weakens the clay and it may crack, but it will not explode.
