Been using polymer clay for a while now and am just about to get started with pmc can I use the tools I already have o do I need to keep a set seperate. I know polymer clay can be pretty toxic when over heated and wondered if residue that may be left on any of the tools might pose a problem
Why aren't my liquid polymer clay image transfers working?
I've been attempting to make image transfers from images printed with my inkjet printer into liquid clay. I have tried both Translucent Liquid Sculpey and Fimo Deko Gel, regular printer paper and cardstock. The transfer to clay just isn't happening, and I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I've read the pages on liquid clay and transfers on Glass Attic, and they didn't really help. From my reading of that and other articles, it seems like using an inkjet printer and either regular paper or cardstock SHOULD work. What are the right steps to do this? I'm getting so tired of wasting clay, just getting these weird floppy translucent disks of nothingness...I'll have a look at those links, and I'll also try letting the clay sit on the paper for a while before baking it. I've been trying to make decals, by the way. I don't have any glass to bake on so I can't do it that way. I will also try photo paper and I'll come back with the results, then pick the best answer if either one helped me out .The photocopy transfer directly to clay is a neat effect, but it really isn't what I'm going for I also do not have a copier just the inkjet printer .I finally got a transfer by cutting something out of a magazine. I need to transfer images from my printer, however.

Using gems/acrylic beads with polymer clay without melting them?
I have recently started crafting with polymer clay Sculpey III more specifically. I am wanting to " set" a gem into the clay almost prong like. I know they could be added after curing if I used another " setting" like a bezel almost, but that's not really my goal. not my Of course, this sounds like a really great idea in my head, but I know it may be next to impossible. I wanted to go for cheap in the beginning so I purchased a few large 20mm x 22mm acrylic gem stones. After tossing it around I'm afraid the gems may melt even at the low temperatures required for curing polyclay. Has anyone had any experience in this area before I ruin a piece ?Thanks Rai

I've been wanting to create keychains, necklaces, buttons, and such for anime conventions but I've been worried about the dangers of using polymer clay. Are they any health risks involved when using, firing or painting polymer clay? If so how can they be avoided, thank you
